„Courageous Community“

The pilot project „Courageous Community“ in the municipality of Ansfelden aims at securing social peace in a respectful and helpful cooperation.

The model Courageous Community

promotes social peace and a respectful and constructive cooperation and is aimed at cities and communities. The ability to act is strengthened from an attitude of esteem. Unwanted behaviour such as violence, vandalism, disrespect and discrimination are countered. Positive effects on security and the sense of security in the communities can be observed. The Courageous Community model requires the use of resources: local institutions and civil society are integrated into a network, citizens are involved, and – last but not least – values must be practiced and measures developed from them. As part of the project, a programme was developed that turns a community into a courageous community. To this end, the „New Authority“ approach, which has already proved successful in the „family“ and „school“ systems, was transferred to the context of an Austrian municipality.

The project has developed a tool for social peace in communities with which citizens can create a respectful coexistence.
